The Department of Organic Chemistry was established in the year 2006. The Department of Organic Chemistry strives to keep in high quality research and quest of excellence in teaching. The Department offers a two year M.Sc. Organic Chemistry programme. Students having B.Sc. with Chemistry Background are eligible to opt this programme through university entrance exam. With Organic Chemistry as the main theme, the teaching aspect completely focuses on providing deeper insights of organic reactions, methodologies, target-driven syntheses, isolation, characterization and identification of natural products, biologically active molecules, industrially important chemicals and drug moieties where organic chemistry principles have a lot to address. The Department has qualified faculty members who have been awarded with various National Fellowships for distinction in their areas of research. The faculty members have also been active in organizing scientific Conferences / Seminars / Symposium / workshops from time to time to address the Recent Research Developments in the Chemistry Field. The Department offers a vibrant atmosphere for young women’s to do their post-graduation in a highly encouraging environment. Students can pursue research in Universities, CSIR Laboratories, and pharmaceutical research laboratories. They will also find multiple employment opportunities in laboratories and industries. Students of the department also qualifying competitive exams like APSLET etc.

VISION

To enhance the teaching and laboratory facilities with the aid of dedicated faculty and to obtain best students to the department. To inspire the interest and enthusiasm, in women students of Chemistry and become competent in exams like NET, SLET etc. To establish good research facilities and encourage the bright students to pursue Ph.D. programmes.

MISSION
  • Update the curriculum periodically with the introduction of vocational courses, inter disciplinary topics and project work.
  • The faculty who all engaged in research work will collaboration with the faculty of other related departments and submit proposals to National Funding Organizations for research grant.
